A philosophic partnership to my independent studio practice is my ongoing collaboration with Whitney Wood; together we are two-person team: Whitanda Bold (Whitney Wood and Amanda Bowles). Whitanda was born the spring of 2008 as a response to the largely cynical environment of the art world today. She rebuffs the prevailing ambivalence of postmodern dialogue, and instead embraces ideas of community, spirituality, and beauty. Seeking to combat the ego-centered individualism prevalent in western culture, Whitanda works to establish a practice of mutual submission and humility, and through this, demonstrates necessary ideals for establishing healthy communities.
